When your hands move, you activate your feet.
When you activate your feet by a wave movement from the heels into the balls of the feet and the toes, you send clear (im)pulses into the “bubbling fountainhead” acupuncture field (湧泉穴) in the left and the right foot—and beyond. The impulses are then reflected upwards into the “shoulder fountain” acupuncture field (肩井穴) in the left and the right shoulder—and beyond, and flow into the “hundredfold confluence” acupuncture field on the top of the head (百會穴)—and beyond. These impulses are also reflected back into the hands, the fingers—and beyond. Generally speaking, the impulses go deep into your body—and beyond, and they go to the periphery of your body—and beyond.
The “beyond” is of critical importance because sensing and extending beyond our individual boundaries is about connecting us with and embedding us in our environments. All this is about dissolving egocentrism.
The water imagery (in the acupuncture fields) is far more than being beautiful metaphors. The water imagery is a complex starting point for a long explorative journey. Exploring water is dealing with life and liveliness in theory and in practice.
